This was a project that just kept on throwing up issue after issue, however, it resulted in a total reconstruction that looks on trend and very smart.
Issues found were the original sleeper wall that retained the garden from the path had rotted out, and was leaning over, the patio slabs were loose and the brickwork unstable in places.
We removed all but a small section of walling, constructed the double skinned retaining wall on concrete foundations, (which looks very smart in its red and black brickwork matching the house and paving), lowered the patio height to meet lawn level, laid new patio slabs on a reinforced concrete base, and built new steps, installed a large lawn of artificial grass, over a compacted stone base and a new path leading from the gate, which was given open joints to facilitate easy drainage, the final touch was a shingle area to take the clients many flower pots.
The colour pallet was dictated by the house bricks and choice of paving, we simply repeated this throughout the design to give a cohesive look that’s modern but with character.
Yesterday my total garden makeover was completed to the highest level. John and Chris laid artificial grass, built a new wall, patio and path and even painted all the fences. The project was far from easy, the existing garden continually revealing hidden issues. As each problem arose a solution was quickly found. The final result, a stunning garden which will give me many years of pleasure. I highly recommend Beales Landscapes and thank them for all their hard work.
